Serena
Smith
Chief Client Officer, North America Retail Payments, FIS
Serena Smith is SVP & Chief Client Officer within FIS’ North American Retail Payments division. Her passion for the industry started with her first job in a small credit union – where she got a taste of what the banking industry is all about. Ever since she has been dedicated to providing a positive and consistent client experience for the customers she serves. In doing so, Serena has built lasting relationships with more than 5,000 clients and oversees a team of 500 client champions.

She has been instrumental in staying ahead of the changing payments landscape, empowering her teams to learn and grow, and embracing the opportunity to partner with clients to help them in their change journey. She most recently led an initiative to drive excellence within her teams that drove increased positive client relations and satisfaction.

Serena also serves as the Norcross campus executive to 365 employees. As the local voice of the enterprise, she proudly drives local engagement and giving back efforts including her own personal involvement with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), which has generated an overwhelming response throughout the company to the tune of nearly $1 million.

Prior to her current role, Serena served as SVP & General Manager of the EFT platform in Norcross and has held a variety of senior positions with FIS for the last 12 years.

She has received industry accolades including the 2013 International Service Excellence Chief Customer Officer of the Year award and led her team to win the International Customer Service Excellence Award for Division of a Large Company in 2013 and 2014. In addition, Serena won the bronze Stevie Award for 2014. Serena was also nominated for Most Influential Women in Payments for 2015.

WHY THE AWARDS COMMITTEE SELECTED HER NOMINATION

FIS CEO Gary Norcross said he could think of no better person to receive this award than Serena. She is the epitome of the company's Guiding Principles and a leading champion of FIS' mission to set their clients up to succeed, each and every day. She has spent her entire career in the payments space and driving a better experience for some of the world's largest banks. Her team members overwhelmingly support this nomination and say her focus and determination in improving the client experience is what sets her apart from her peers. And her numerous industry accolades back up this statement. Serena puts 150% into everything she does, and leads by example for her teams, her peers and her local community.
